End of an Era...

Missing Charlotte....

As many of you know, this time of year we are usually in the beautiful city of Charlotte, NC. We have made it a yearly event to attend the Nascar races at Lowes Motor Speedway. Unfortunately, we will not be attending this year. (tears starting to flow) With a hectic schedule, and Ashlie having her baby, we will be watching from a television set (oh how fun...). Last year at this time, we were on a flight back east to enjoy a weekend of fun and excitement. I keep wondering if they can really have the race with me not there?? If you hear lamenting and cries coming from our house Saturday evening, you will know reality has set in. One could even expect weeping, wailing, and gnashing of teeth. Above is a photo of the crew from last year. Notice how Curtis kept his hair nice and neat.

Blast From The Past

Being somewhat of a history buff, I have uncovered a rare photograph. At first glance, one would surmise this is a picture of the "Fab Four" (The Beatles). However upon closer inspection, I believe it is a photo of the trend setting quartet from 600 South in St. George, Utah. Always on the cutting edge, these hunks pushed every fashion envelope known to man. Apparently Ben and Curtis were seeking the spray paint look with the jeans. They bring a whole new meaning to the word "tight". Doug was still hung up on Buddy Holly, and sought to keep his memory alive with his cool glasses. Steve was the first to introduce the world to red socks. He was later quoted as saying, "it drives the girls crazy"! Not to be outdone, Curtis went for brighter socks and higher pants. Asked for his reason for the floods, he was quoted as saying, "Summer is right around the corner, and these babies can double for shorts"! He also mentioned that wearing dress shoes with spray paint floods are a great babe magnet. No wonder St. George is often recognized as the fashion capital of the world. George and Carma, struggled in those days to beat the girls back from attacking their sons, as the "Fashion Four" were pure studs. How could they not be with clothes and hair do's like that??? Being the ring leader, Ben had to wear a lighter shade of blue to set him apart. The other three were mere window dressing.... Notice the care given to the lawn chairs. lol

Marching!!

At the Lang household, we are very pleased to welcome in October. Having celebrated birthdays for two of the worlds cutest grand kids, Elle and Owen, we are now focused on the upcoming holiday season. Curtis has been given strict instructions to keep a watchful eye that all candy bowls throughout the house remain fully stocked at all times. In the event any grand kids come over (hint..), they will be met with an assortment of choices. In the mean time, Curtis has been given the assignment of "quality control" over all candy. To accomplish this, he is required to taste or sample all candy varieties to ensure freshness and flavor every hour. Upon receiving his instructions, Curtis was seen "marching" to the nearest store for supplies. In keeping with the holiday spirit, we ask that all family members practice their marching.... Notice Curtis's high knee extention and festive hat!

Levi Sale

As many of you know, Curtis continues to wear Levi Strauss. He has been a loyal and devoted customer since Jr. High School. At any time, one could count some 15 pair hanging in his closet. As he discards the older pair for newer ones, the scene is reminesent of the Michelin Man saying goodby to his tires as they leave the assembly line. The other day he was sitting in the office reading the newspaper, when he came across an advertisement for the famous jeans. All at once he was out the door and through the house like it was on fire. A cry was heard as he ran for the garage; "Transfer all money to the WAMU account, STAT" He jumped in the car and was gone in an instant. The screeching of tires was heard as his car raced down the driveway. A neighbor caught him on film leaving the subdivision. That must have been some sale...

Central Park Sighting

While reporting the news in New York City, I captured the above photo of Lang Corporation's Board of Directors, strolling through Central Park. Taking a break from the rigers of Investments, bank blocks, and high level insurance deals, The Langs appeared to enjoy the city's nightlife. Asked about his take on the "Big Apple", President and CEO, Curtis Lang was qouted as saying, "Actually, I am just a shy quiet, naive country boy, unlearned in the ways of big city life. I feel out of place here, and much prefer sitting down in my local library, doing book reports. They were my first love back in High School, and I have continued to embrace my one true passion. I didn't date back then, as my only companions were my pocket proctector, and slide rule. Right now, I am just finishing a report on the Dewey Decimal System. Facinating subject for us book report specialists. Most of my school days were spent in the library as you might imagine, so you can understand my trepadation here in New York". Teri, CFO and Division Director was quoted as saying, "I love this place!! I was made for this city. All my friends live here; Prada, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, Versace, and Michael Kors. Being a former model, New York is my second home. I am speaking at the National Investment Stragety Seminar tomorrow, and will encourage the atendees to invest right here in the "Big City". When asked about any insider tips, Teri responded with, "stay away from all soda company stock. Curtis is waving off all soda and the effects will be felt thoughout the financial market. If you think the failure of WAMU, AIG and the impending fall if Wachovia is substantial, wait until the Dr. Pepper empire falls. This will take Wall Street to it's knees"!!!

Here She is!!

After repeated requests from Ashlie and Victoria for more coverage of their mother on this site, their wishes have been granted. This former model and current real estate guru, has turned her attention to re-tooling the grand kid room. Known to have wiped out Toys R Us in Henderson in equiping the toddler paradise, she is now on a quest to find bigger, better, and more fun! Soon to be additions are Pacman and Donkey Kong arcade games. Teri has also located additional couches to compliment the Spiderman, and Cinderella couches currently residing in the ultimate playland. It is rumored that Batman and Little Mermaid will be joining the couch collection. Also reports have been circulating that Teri is going to move the play area to a bigger room. With all the planned purchases, one wonders if we should build a large commercial building... If any of the grand kids are reading this, please remember that Grandpa is the one that keeps the treat fridge stocked with ice cream, pop cicles, and cream bars. He is also responsible for keeping ALL the candy bowls well stocked. Grandma does supply the Gummy bears... (which is a full time job when Owen comes to visit)

September News

Another month and still nothing exciting to report. Nicole and Ryan are another year older, and I am one step closer to blue hair, support shoes, ear hair, untimely body noises, and dentures entering my life. (Teri is less than thrilled) Thanks a lot kids... Dr. Pepper has made a comback of sorts in the household, and Teri keeps stringent controls on all outgoing "cracklers". I have made a new resolution however, that starting January 1, I will limit the intake of natures refreshing liquid gold, to one per day. It is time I recommit to eating healthy (including wheatgrass) and exercising.

Ashlie is finally tying the knot this Thursday. Please keep gifts to under $40,000.00. Mason and Ashlie are going to reside in the big city of Bluffdale, Utah. Hollywood has been put on notice that Miss Ashlie's career has been put on hold(being mommie comes first). Nicole has been stunt driving and was showing Elle and Miles how to do tricks in Mommie's car. Ryan has now purchased every single attachment made for his weed eater, and is growing a virtual produce stand in his back yard. Kristi has been spending weekends in beautiful cabins reading books, while Hazel and Lincoln yearn to spend the weekend with Grandpa. Charise has been attending movies, and waging war on the bugs in her garden. Victoria is attending High School, and is now an official "babe magnet". Known to be quite the attraction, she has been known to cause several car accidents as she crosses the street for seminary. Teri is spending her time these days waiting for her new grand daughter. The new one should be here in a couple of weeks. I have offered a prize of $1,000.00 to the first person to use the name "Curtistina", but no takers... My heart is back to normal, and I am free to lift all cute grandkids now. Should be an exciting week, and I hope everybody has a great one! Remember, Teri's birthday is coming up. She keeps leaving me hints around the house, like Prada, Gucci and Jimmy Choo. Is she asking for some type of candy, gum, or cough medicine???

August Update

Teri and I are busy with work, and have not been doing anything new OR exciting... We always enjoy looking at the girl's blogs, and can't believe how cute our grand kids are! The butter eating incident by Elle however, made us both skip the next two meals. My stomach is doing cheetah flips just writing about it!! We are enjoying the summer, and love to watch all the water skiers doing tricks at Utah Lake. We have also watched some spectacular crashes as well. We are considering holding up score cards and rating the skiers performances. We have been barbecuing, reading books and spending time out on the deck, taking in the sights and sounds of the Lake. If I am lucky, Teri will allow me to have one, small, refreshing, ice cold crackler (Dr. Pepper to the layman...) in the evening. The parent company (Cadbury Schwepps) called me the other day complaining that their stock is in decline, and if I could negotiate a 20% increase in product with Teri. Negotiations are in progress. Happy Summer Everyone!!!

RECOVERY!!

A few weeks have passed since the trauma team has completed the pioneering procedure on America's humblest man. Open heart surgery has never been so easy! We thought we would check in on him to see how the recovery is going. Naturally, we were surprised to learn of his quick recovery, as we photographed our findings... Our camera lens was not fast enough to capture lighting in motion (notice the blurr behind me as I run...),but we did notice he now wears sunglasses when going Mach speed. Curtis did indicate that the "Super Gene" was back in full force, and that his heart was operating at full power... Of course he is anxious to return to all of his house duties, such as cleaning the kitchen, living room, family room, den, grandkids room, doing laundry, dishes vacuuming, ironing, etc, etc...

Surgery Date

It seems that Curtis will be given a reprieve from doing dishes, vacuuming floors, laundry, cleaning bathrooms, and emptying the trash, when he has his medical procedure done next week. Asked if he will miss doing the myriad of chores around the house, Curtis was heard saying "house cleaning is my life. I will feel lost without it". Winner of the Good Housekeeping Award, Best House Keeper in Nevada Award, and Submissive Husband of The Decade Award, Mr. Lang's absence will be felt throughout the neighborhood, as he was known to assist friends and neighbors with all their cleaning needs.

Above is a photo of the surgical team recruited for the procedure on this humble, submissive soul (also known as Mr. Clean, Cook & Wash). People are encouraged to send large quantities of Dr. Pepper (in bottles) as well as Cookies, treats and yummy rice pudding to the patients home. Also a request has been made for a bell and a marine horn for Curtis's use in requesting Teri's immediate assistance, while he is recovering...

Update

I thought I should post an update on our blog. It has been a long time since we posted anything. Ashlie is now living with us, and has found employment with a call center. On her first day of work, they moved her to a management position, and works directly for the owner. Now that is called moving up the corporate ladder quickly! Her baby is due in October. Teri and I are still hopeful that our business will continue on its current path to success. I finally go to the Heart surgeon this Wednesday. It will be great to feel normal again! Didn't post any pictures as we still look the same. ( I keep thinking anyway...)
